Tamuning, Guam- Tuesday, February 25, 2020- GTA will host its first-ever GIRLS CODE workshop to celebrate women in tech and empower young girls to spark their interests in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
As GTA continues to build on youth empowerment initiatives (Empowered by GTA), the local telecom company is hosting a free GIRLS CODE workshop open to girls 12 through 16 years of age, on Saturday, March 7. The event is open to the first 16 girls to sign up and will take place at the GTA Experience Center in Tamuning from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. GIRLS CODE offers the basics of coding and computer science and will be taught and facilitated by the IT team at GTA.
Michele Catahay Perez, Community Relation Manager at GTA, says, “By investing in our island’s youth, we can make a meaningful impact in our community. As we celebrate International Women’s Day in March, we want to empower our young women to take interest in STEM careers and encourage our youth to feel empowered to pursue their passion.”
