(Tamuning, Guam- Friday, May 15, 2020- GTA is teaming up to support families significantly impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Today the local telecom company committed to support four local non-profit organizations in dire need of assistance for two months to help over 2,000 families. These nonprofit organizations include Catholic Social Service, Salvation Army, Harvest House, and Victim Advocates Reaching Out (VARO).
GTA partnered with a local distributor to deliver cases of non-perishable food items, basic necessities, and baby formula to help families that seek support from these non-profit organizations. The total value of the donation to all non-profit groups is approximately $30,500.
Roland Certeza, President of GTA, says, “This pandemic has placed a lot of hardships on families and we want to help where we can. We are grateful for all the organizations and volunteers who work tirelessly to assist our families in need. Catholic Social Service and Salvation Army are assisting hundreds of families going through difficult times due to unemployment or other unforeseen circumstances. Harvest House is seeking donations to care for foster children, and VARO continues to provide direct assistance to victims of sexual assault and family violence.”
Through the Team Up for Guam philanthropic initiative, we are assisting our community by way of donating to help our first responders, healthcare workers, University of Guam students participating in distance learning, COVID-19 patients in isolation at the Guam Memorial Hospital, and non-profit groups.
