GTA gives back to local non-profit organizations through Magic of Giving campaign

Tamuning, Guam- Tuesday, January 19, 2021- Though 2020 proved to be a very tumultuous year for our island and the rest of the world, it did not stop our community from shining through and giving back during the holiday season.

On Giving Tuesday, December 1, 2020, and throughout the whole month, GTA encouraged island residents to donate to local non-profit organizations that provide help and assistance to youth in need. The three beneficiaries for the 2020 Magic of Giving included Alee Shelter, HunterSpeaks Organization, and I'Famagu'on-ta. For every $3 donation made at our retail stores, residents also received a commemorative eco-friendly bag. 100% of the proceeds benefited the organizations.

As we look forward to starting 2021 on a high note, today, each organization received a $5,000 corporate donation from GTA, along with a separate donation made by our local community. We held a check presentation at our GTA Headquarters in upper Tumon. "We are committed to giving back in meaningful ways, not just throughout the holiday season, but all year long," says Roland Certeza, President of GTA.

"We created the Magic of Giving movement in 2019 to bring awareness to the very organizations that work tirelessly to uplift, inspire, and empower our youth. We thank them for their dedication through their programs and services. We also thank the entire community for throwing their kindness and support behind our efforts. Your donation, big or small, makes a huge difference in the lives of those in need."

Our GTA familia also took part in giving during the Holidays. On Giving Tuesday, our People Operations team hosted a non-perishable food and necessity drive to benefit the non-profit organizations. Our corporate culture is alive and well as we continue to encourage volunteerism among our entire GTA community.

Stacy Elarmo, Head of HR at GTA, says, "Our GTA familia is always ready and willing to give back. Volunteering and helping our community are ways we spread a culture of goodwill in meaningful ways and share a passion for helping our community. A simple act of kindness goes a long way, and we are happy to be a part of it."
