Tamuning, Guam, Monday, October 5, 2020- Getting an annual flu vaccine is simple, yet incredibly important now more than ever amid the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic. As we anticipate the flu season from September through November and with COVID-19 continuing to put a strain on our health care system on Guam, GTA is doing our part to promote a healthy workforce so we can reduce any risk of flu illness during these months.
On Thursday, October 1, GTA partnered with International Health Providers (IHP) to host a flu immunization clinic open to employees and their families. More than 400 employees had the opportunity to get vaccinated during the workday without going off the clock. With social distancing the new norm, the clinic offered a seamless, simple, convenient, and safe way to administer the vaccinations without employees and families having to leave their vehicles.
Stacy Elarmo, Head of Human Resources and People Experience at GTA, says, “We care about our employees and their families and believe that by encouraging routine vaccinations, we are doing our part to ensure our teams are provided with a wonderful work experience. With the combination of the flu and COVID-19 an ongoing concern, we are being proactive and continue to make health and wellness a priority for our employees, their families and our community.”
Health insurance providers are also encouraging residents to get their vaccines to protect them from dangerous illnesses, including the flu. As many more companies like GTA come together to promote a healthier workforce, we can continue to keep our community healthy.
The recent flu immunization clinic is one of many benefits our company offers to employees. At GTA, we continue to invest our time and energy in building a workplace that aligns with our culture, values, and mission. By making health programs like the recent flu immunization clinic available to our employees, we believe it builds trust, pride, and camaraderie, most especially during these unprecedented times.
