Tamuning, Guam, Sunday, May 22, 2022- To celebrate National Volunteer Week and Earth Month last month, on Saturday, April 23, more than 25 GTA volunteers and family members spent a Saturday morning giving back to Island Girl Power in Dededo. Through its GTA Gives philanthropic initiatives and its Team Up for Guam Employee Volunteer Program, the local telecom company helps organizations that need help in our community.
Juanita Blaz, IGP Executive Director, says she values the time community members give to help support their cause. She says, "When we have a group like GTA come here to volunteer, it brings a lot of life and energy to those who have been working here for a long time. We are working on sustainability. Our nature park is all about restoring native habitats. It's all about preserving and protecting, and honestly, humans need to be connected with nature. it's a coping skill for stress."
IGP promotes positive role models in the community and offers positive activities for the youth and families. The local non-profit organization supports sustainability through its community gardens and thrift shop open to the island community. Island Girl Power (IGP, Guam) – To Empower, Encourage, & Inspire!
