GTA Typhoon Mawar Restoration Update – 6/21/23

(Tamuning, Guam) Wednesday, June 21, 2023 - GTA continues to work to restore all network services after Typhoon Mawar. Power fluctuations and outages are still a major challenge, and we appreciate your patience and understanding. GTA assures customers that there will be no disconnections or late fees until further notice.

NETWORK UPDATE

Wireless Services: As of today, a majority of our wireless network cell sites are operational. Our main challenge is keeping generators fueled and maintained while GPA works to restore island power. Please note this is a fluid situation and cell sites may go down due to power outages or generator issues. Customers that are experiencing wireless service issues can contact our Support Center for updates and assistance.

Fixed Services (Internet, Phone, Digital TV): We have been assessing and repairing the infrastructure in the villages, but the return of island power is needed to fully restore Fixed Services. If your power is restored and your internet is not working, please follow these steps:

·       Check that all the connections are securely plugged into the modem.

·       Unplug the power to the modem for 1 minute. Plug the power in and wait 3-5 minutes to initialize.

·       Once the modem has had time to boot up, plug-in/power up your internet devices or digital TV set-top box.

·       If you have completed the following steps above and are still having issues with your services, please contact our Support Center for assistance.

There are a few neighborhoods where power fluctuations have damaged some network equipment, and our teams have been deployed to those areas.
