GTA Honored with Champion of the Arts Award at the Maga’håga Arts Awards

(Tamuning, Guam) Wednesday, October 8, 2025 — GTA proudly received the Champion of the Arts – Corporate Award at the Maga’håga Arts Awards, held over the weekend at the Leo Palace Resort. Organized by the Guam Council on the Arts & Humanities Agency (CAHA) and presented by the Governor of Guam, the prestigious event recognized individuals and organizations making meaningful contributions to Guam’s arts and cultural landscape.

The Maga’håga Arts Award is a revived and renamed version of the Governor’s Art Award, honoring the island’s matriarchal heritage through its name. Revived after a hiatus of more than two decades, the award highlights Guam’s creative excellence and the spirit of community that drives it forward.

GTA was nominated by the Mayors’ Council of Guam in recognition of its strong commitment to community engagement and cultural preservation. From hosting Mobile Manåmko’ workshops that empower Guam’s seniors with digital skills, to supporting village festivals across the island, and championing the Village Mural Project that celebrates Guam’s identity through public art, GTA continues to make a lasting impact in the community.

“For 73 years, GTA has been part of Guam’s story - connecting families, villages, and generations,” said Sharon Davis, Senior Vice President of Community Engagement & External Affairs at GTA. “Art is the soul of our island. It tells our story, honors our heritage, and inspires us to give back. This award is a tribute to our team, our volunteers, and our partners who help keep our culture and community alive.”

The event celebrated a wide range of talented artists, educators, and organizations who have contributed to Guam’s vibrant arts and cultural scene.
