GTA Donates Bottled Water to Support Yigo Residents Affected by Water Contamination

(Tamuning, Guam) Thursday, October 9, 2025— GTA donated a full pallet of bottled water to the Yigo Mayor’s Office on Wednesday to support residents impacted by the recent water contamination in the area. The donation was delivered to the Yigo Gym, where the mayor’s office continues to coordinate relief efforts for affected families.

Some residents in Yigo have been advised not to drink or cook with tap water due to dieldrin contamination — a pesticide found at unsafe levels in a local well. The Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA) has provided alternative water sources and is working toward long-term solutions to ensure the safety of the community’s water supply.

Yigo Mayor Frances Lizama expressed appreciation for the community’s support, stating, “We are grateful for GTA’s donation and to all those who continue to step up for our residents during this time. Every effort helps us ensure that families have access to safe drinking water as we work through this issue together.”

Through its GTA Gives program, GTA continues to partner with local organizations, mayors, and community leaders across Guam to provide meaningful assistance in times of need — reaffirming its commitment to serving the island with care and compassion.
