(Tamuning, Guam)– Friday, March 17, 2023 – The Manhoben Swim Club, a group of dedicated coaches and parents who work together to develop all-around athletes, has received a generous donation of $1,000 from GTA. The donation will help the swim club to cover transportation and other expenses associated with their participation in the Keo Nakama Invitational in Hawaii in the summer of 2023.
Michele Catahay Perez, Senior Community Relations Manager at GTA, says, "We are thrilled to support the Manhoben Swim Club and their incredible athletes. Their dedication to promoting a positive and healthy lifestyle through swimming is truly inspiring, and we are honored to be able to play a small part in their success. We wish them all the best as they prepare for the Keo Nakama Invitational in Hawaii."
The Manhoben Swim Club has been an integral part of the community for decades, representing nearly every village and ranging from ages 5 to 20 years old. Despite facing numerous setbacks, the team has continued to produce Olympic swimmers since Guam's debut in 1988. The athletes not only excel in the water but also in the classroom and in the community, participating in beach cleanups, donation drives, and various service-learning opportunities throughout the year.
Christopher Duenas, Coach for the the Manhoben Swim Club, says. "We are extremely grateful to have GTA as a community partner, and we are thankful for any support that they can offer. The donation will go a long way in helping our team to participate in the Keo Nakama Invitational, and we hope to make Guam proud once again."
The Manhoben Swim Club is dedicated to promoting a positive and healthy lifestyle through swimming, and this donation will help to ensure that the athletes have the opportunity to compete at the highest level possible.
