(Tamuning, Guam) Tuesday, May 2, 2023- GTA celebrated the unveiling of its latest mural in Sinajana on Tuesday morning as part of its Village Mural Project. The mural entitled, 'A Young Cruz Woman,' depicts a local girl who is one with nature. This is the 4th mural as part of the village mural project, which aims to beautify the community while showcasing local talent and culture.
The mural was created by local artist Gera Datuin, who drew inspiration from the natural beauty and culture of the island. The mural features a young girl surrounded by greenery and the ocean. The artwork captures the essence of island living and the close relationship between humans and nature. Datuin says, "It's about a personal story and who she is as a human being. We're all trying to remember our culture and sustain ourselves and how we do this together."
"We are thrilled to continue to support the local art community," said Michele Catahay Perez, Sr. Community Relations Manager at GTA. "Gera's mural is a beautiful addition to the village, and we hope it brings joy and inspiration to all who see it."
Last year, the local telecom company created the Village Mural Project to revitalize the villages and support local artists. The project has successfully brought together artists, businesses, and residents to create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.
"I want this community (Sinajana) to inspire others to do great things. As Mayor and a resident of our village, we can continue to do good in our community with subsidies and support from companies like GTA," said Mayor Robert Hofmann of Sinajana Village.
