GTA Partners with Guam Green Growth on Storm Preparedness Workshop

(Tamuning, Guam) Monday, August 3, 2026 - As part of its ongoing commitment to community preparedness, GTA partnered with the University of Guam's Guam Green Growth (G3) Makerspace to host a free Generator Safety and Storm Connectivity Workshop on Saturday, August 1, at the Chamorro Village in Hagåtña.

Approximately 40 community members attended the free one-hour interactive workshop, where participants received hands-on instruction on generator safety, proper setup and operation, and practical tips for staying connected before, during, and after severe weather events.

The workshop combined safety education with technology preparedness, helping residents better understand how to safely power essential devices while maintaining access to communications during emergencies.

"As Guam prepares for another storm season, community preparedness is one of the best ways we can build resilience together," said Sharon Davis, Senior Vice President of Community Relations and Enterprise Sales at GTA. "By partnering with organizations like Guam Green Growth Makerspace, we're able to provide practical, hands-on training that empowers residents to protect their families while staying connected when it matters most."

The workshop is part of GTA's Empowered by GTA community partnership program, which supports local organizations making a meaningful impact across Guam. Through the partnership, GTA provides connectivity that helps Guam Green Growth Makerspace continue delivering educational programs and resources that strengthen the community.

"Preparedness goes beyond having supplies on hand - it includes knowing how to safely use your equipment and understanding how to stay connected during an emergency," Davis added. "We're proud to support Guam Green Growth Makerspace as they continue to educate and empower our island community."

GTA remains committed to investing in initiatives that promote safety, digital inclusion, and community resilience while helping keep Guam connected before, during, and after every storm.
