GTA Typhoon Mawar Restoration Update – 6/13/23

(Tamuning, Guam) Tuesday, June 13, 2023 - GTA continues to work 24/7 to restore all network services after Typhoon Mawar. During these challenging times, we appreciate your patience and understanding, and GTA assures customers that there will be no disconnections or late fees until further notice.

NETWORK UPDATE

Core Network: Our core network is fully operational and off-island internet connections are stable with ample capacity. Most of our core network sites are on island power, and we would like to thank GPA for prioritizing GTA as critical infrastructure to keep the island connected.

Wireless Services: As of today, most of our wireless network cell sites are operational. Our main challenge is keeping generators fueled and maintained while GPA works to restore island power. Please note this is a fluid situation and cell sites may go down due to island power fluctuations or generator issues. Customers that are experiencing wireless service issues can contact our Support Center for updates and assistance.

Wireless Areas of Focus (as of 6/13/23)

·       Anderson Air Force Base: Antenna adjustment completed for improved coverage

·       GICC (Dededo): Operational on generator power

·       Latte Heights: Operational on generator power

·       Chalan Pago: Cell site repaired and operational

·       Pia Marine (Upper Tumon): Optimizing antennas for improved coverage

·       MTM: Working on providing power to two cell sites to restore coverage

·       Santa Rita: Power restored to site and team working on connection to site

Fixed Services (Internet, Phone, Digital TV): We have been assessing and repairing the infrastructure in the villages, but the return of island power is needed to fully restore Fixed Services. Much of our network infrastructure is underground, and once island power is restored, many of our customers should have internet service available.

If your power is restored and your internet is not working, please follow these steps:

·       Check that all the connections are securely plugged into the modem.

·       Unplug the power to the modem for 1 minute. Plug the power in and wait 3-5 minutes to initialize.

·       Once the modem has had time to boot up, plug-in/power up your internet devices or digital TV set-top box.

·       If you have completed the following steps above and are still having issues with your services, please contact our Support Center for assistance.

There are a few neighborhoods where the power fluctuations or water have damaged some network equipment, and our teams have been deployed to those areas to fix.
