GTA Awarded BEAD Funding to Build its Next-Generation Fiber Network on Guam

(Tamuning, Guam) Wednesday, July 22, 2026 – GTA has been awarded funding through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program as a part of its fiber expansion project which leverages proven expertise and strategic assets to provide high-speed fiber internet service to more homes and businesses across Guam.

The funding was formally recognized during a signing ceremony held on July 22 with Governor Lou Leon Guerrero, Lt. Governor Joshua Tenorio, representatives from the Guam Office of Infrastructure Policy and Development (OIPD), and GTA's leadership team.

The GTA Guam Next-Generation Fiber Network - BEAD Funded Broadband Expansion Project will extend the local telecom company's fiber network to approximately 1,345 unserved and underserved locations across five project areas. The expansion will provide faster, more reliable internet service while helping meet the growing connectivity needs of Guam's residents, businesses, schools, and healthcare providers.

The project represents a $2.6 million investment, including approximately $1.8 million in federal BEAD funding and nearly $800,000 in matching funds from GTA.

"This funding allows us to build upon ongoing investments in our network and extend broadband access to additional locations that may otherwise be more challenging to serve. The project will be completed in phases following required federal reviews and approvals.

The Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program is administered by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) through the Guam Office of Infrastructure Policy and Development (OIPD) as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
