(Tamuning, Guam) Saturday, June 24, 2023 - GTA, Guam's longest serving telecommunications provider, has extended its support in the aftermath of Typhoon Mawar by donating prepaid cards and power banks to those staying at the emergency shelter at the iLearn Academy Charter School Gymnasium in Dededo. The contribution aims to help the affected individuals stay connected with their loved ones while they recover from the devastating impact of the typhoon.
Typhoon Mawar left many residents displaced and seeking refuge in emergency shelters. Recognizing the critical importance of maintaining communication during this challenging time, GTA took swift action to provide practical assistance to those in need.
The donation includes prepaid cards, allowing shelter residents to make essential phone calls, send text messages, and access the internet. These cards will help bridge the communication gap and provide a sense of comfort to individuals who are separated from their families and friends.
In addition to the prepaid cards, GTA also contributed a supply of power banks to the shelter. As power outages are common in the aftermath of natural disasters, these power banks will enable residents to charge their mobile devices and ensure they have a reliable source of power to stay connected.
The Dededo Mayor expressed gratitude for GTA's generous contribution and emphasized the significance of the support provided. "We are grateful to GTA for their donation of prepaid cards and power banks," said Mayor Melissa Savares. "These resources will greatly help our residents at the shelter to reach out to their loved ones."
GTA remains committed to supporting the communities it serves and will continue to explore avenues to provide assistance during emergencies. The company's contribution to the Dededo shelter is part of its ongoing efforts to contribute positively to the well-being and resilience of Guam's residents.
