(Hågat, Guam) Tuesday, November 26, 2024 – GTA successfully hosted its last Mobile Manåmko' workshop of the year at the Hågat Senior Center on Monday, November 18, wrapping up a remarkable 2024 dedicated to empowering Guam’s elderly community through technology. This year alone, GTA visited six senior centers across the island, helping hundreds of seniors navigate their smart devices and embrace the digital world.
Launched in 2023, the Mobile Manåmko' initiative was created to bridge the digital divide for Guam’s elderly population, enabling them to connect with loved ones, access online services, and confidently use technology in their daily lives. Over the past two years, the program has made a lasting impact on communities by equipping seniors with essential digital skills and fostering inclusivity.
“Our Mobile Manåmko' workshops have become an integral part of our commitment to serving the community,” said Michele Catahay Perez, Director of Community Relations. “It’s truly inspiring to see how eager our Manåmko' are to learn and adapt to new technology, and we’re proud to play a role in their journey toward digital empowerment.”
Throughout 2024, GTA Smart Center Team and volunteers visited senior centers, providing personalized guidance on using smartphones, tablets, and other devices. From navigating social media to setting up online medical appointments, the workshops covered a variety of practical topics tailored to the unique needs of each group.
As the year concludes, GTA is already looking ahead to 2025 with plans to expand the program and continue its mission of empowering Guam’s senior citizens.
