GTA Brings Guam to BATIC 2026, Advancing Global Connectivity

(Bali, Indonesia) Thursday, September 3, 2026 - GTA brought a 10-member delegation, including members of its executive leadership team, from Guam to BATIC 2026, held August 24–28 in Bali, Indonesia, joining more than 2,700 delegates from 67 countries and 760 global companies focused on connectivity and digital infrastructure.

Hosted by PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), BATIC brought together telecommunications providers, technology companies and infrastructure operators from across the region.

For GTA, the conference was an opportunity to represent Guam, strengthen regional partnerships and engage with companies shaping the future of connectivity across the Pacific.

“What we are doing is putting Guam on the map for how large carriers and companies think about building their network resiliency in our region,” said Roland Certeza, CEO of GTA. “Guam is the gateway for new cables coming from Southeast Asia into the United States, and it is now becoming a major data hub in the Pacific.”

GTA’s relationship with Telin dates back to 2016, when the companies joined the consortium for the Southeast Asia-United States (SEA-US) submarine cable system, which lands at GTA’s Cable Landing Station in Piti. SEA-US connects Indonesia, the Philippines, Guam, Hawaii and California, providing a critical trans-Pacific connection between Asia and the United States.

That relationship has continued through SEA-US and the Bifrost cable system. Telin and other SEA-US and Bifrost partners are among GTA’s key strategic customers, relying on the company’s expertise to design, build and operate complex cable landing and network infrastructure in Guam with the reliability required by global carriers.

The BATIC delegation also provided an opportunity for GTA to expose more of its Guam-based team to the global telecommunications community.

“Guam has become an important part of the global telecommunications industry, and I want more of our local people to be part of that story. We’re bringing a new group of team members to give them exposure, build their experience, and introduce more of the talent we have here on Guam to the global community. It’s about developing our people and preparing the next generation to represent our company and our island on the world stage.”

During BATIC, GTA met with regional and international partners and gained insight into the growing demand for data across Southeast Asia, driven in part by artificial intelligence and other data-intensive technologies. With more trans-Pacific submarine cables in development, Guam is well positioned for future cable landings and to strengthen its role as a major connectivity and data hub between Asia and the United States.

GTA operates four data centers, including GU1 and GU2 in Piti, GU3 in Alupang, Guam, and HMB IX in Hermosa Beach, California. Combined with its fiber, subsea connectivity and cable landing infrastructure, GTA is positioned to support the region’s growing digital infrastructure needs.

“Customers are looking at us again to build and operate reliable cable stations and data centers,” Certeza said. “We want to make sure Guam is ready for that demand and continues to play an important role in the region’s connectivity future.”

For nearly 75 years, GTA has invested in the infrastructure and partnerships that keep Guam connected. Its participation in BATIC 2026 reflects its continued commitment to strengthening Guam’s role as a critical gateway for global connectivity and digital infrastructure in the Pacific.
