GTA Builds Global Partnerships at Submarine Networks World 2026
(Tamuning, Guam) Wednesday, September 30, 2026- GTA joined about 1,000 telecommunications and digital infrastructure professionals at Submarine Networks World (SNW) 2026 in Singapore on September 23 - 24, reinforcing its role in supporting Guam's growing position as a strategic connectivity hub in the Pacific.
The annual conference brought together hyperscalers, submarine cable operators, carriers, data center providers and technology companies to discuss the continued growth of international bandwidth, network resilience and infrastructure diversity.
GTA Senior Vice President of Data Centers Andy LaBrunda participated in the panel, “The Approach to Network Resilience – Diversity and Inclusion is the Path to Zero Downtime,” which focused on the importance of building greater physical and geographic diversity across global networks.
“As more infrastructure is built across the Pacific, resilience is increasingly about the entire network - not just the submarine cable,” said LaBrunda. “Operators are looking at where cables land, how traffic moves from the landing station, how terrestrial routes are designed and how easily they can interconnect with other networks. Guam is well positioned to support those requirements."
GTA brings decades of telecommunications experience in Guam and proven expertise supporting submarine cable infrastructure. As the Guam landing party for the Southeast Asia-United States (SEA-US) cable system, GTA supporting the system's landing infrastructure in Piti and was also a member of the consortium behind the cable, which connects Indonesia, the Philippines, Guam, Hawaii and California.
Beyond the cable landing, GTA provides the terrestrial infrastructure required to move and interconnect international traffic across Guam, including more than 500 miles of fiber, cable landing facilities, data centers, backhaul, colocation and network interconnection services. The company operates three digital infrastructure facilities on Guam - GU1 and GU2 in Piti and GU3 in Alupang, along with HMB IX in Hermosa Beach, California.
GTA’s newest facility, GU3, is a Tier III-designed cable landing station and data center with more than 32,000 square feet of space and 4 megawatts of power capacity. The facility is designed to support next-generation submarine cable systems, including Bifrost, while providing secure colocation, terrestrial connectivity and interconnection capabilities.
“Guam’s value goes beyond the number of cables that land here,” LaBrunda said. “What matters is having the infrastructure to connect those systems, provide real physical diversity and move traffic securely to where it needs to go. That is where Guam continues to become more important in the Pacific network.”
For the Guam community, that connectivity creates opportunities beyond the telecommunications industry. Stronger international connections can support local businesses, attract new investment and technology, and help Guam participate more fully in the global digital economy. It also gives the island a stronger platform to share its capabilities with companies and partners around the world.
GTA’s participation at SNW follows its presence at BATIC 2026 in Bali in August, where the company also met with international carriers, technology companies and infrastructure providers exploring connectivity and data center opportunities across the region.
As additional submarine cable systems are developed throughout the Pacific, GTA continues to invest in the landing, terrestrial and data center infrastructure needed to support resilient connectivity between Asia, the Pacific and the United States - and to help connect Guam to the opportunities that come with it.
