(Tamuning, Guam) Wednesday, February 1, 2023- GTA’s Junior Achievement Team, Maila’ Ta Fan Daña, took home several awards during the JA Guam awards ceremony held at the Dusit Thani Guam on Saturday, January 29. Maila’ Ta Fan Daña created upcycled pet toys. Its mission is to bridge the gap between generations through pets, and its vision is to unify the community.
In addition, the team took home several awards, including first place for Product of the Year and second place for Best Annual Report, Best in Show, and Best Financial Practices. Maila Ta Fan Daña’s Alex Gayle, a GTA Youth Leader finalist for SY 2022 -2023, was also awarded the President of the Year.
During the 16-week program, high school students learn the pillars of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. They’re tasked with creating a business, brainstormed and creating a product, working on marketing strategies, and selling their product at trade fairs. In the end, they were taught how to liquidate their business. Mentors from GTA guided the JA students throughout the program.
